ارگ کریم خان در مرکز شهر شیراز قرار دارد. این ارگ در دوره سلطنت سلسله زندیه ساخته شده است و پس از اینکه کریم خان زند شیراز را به عنوان پایتخت خود و این مکان را به‌عنوان مکان زندگی خود انتخاب نمود به ارگ کریمخان معروف شد. در زمان سلطنت سلسله پهلوی از ارگ به عنوان زندان استفاده شده است که متأسفانه آسیب های جبران ناپذیری به آن وارد شده است. در سال ۱۳۵۰ این ارگ به اداره فرهنگ و هنر وقت واگذار شد. این بنای عظیم اکنون تحت نظارت سازمان میراث فرهنگی جمهوری اسلامی ایران اداره می شود و به عنوان موزه بزرگ فارس مورد استفاده قرار گیرد. - The Arg of Karim Khan is a citadel located in the north-east of Shiraz. It was built as part of a complex during the Zand dynasty and is named after Karim Khan, and served as his living quarters. In shape it resembles a medieval fortress. At times, the citadel was used as a prison. Today, it is a museum operated by Iran's Cultural Heritage Organization.

پارسه یا تخت جمشید نام یکی از شهرهای باستانی ایران است که سالیان سال پایتخت تشریفاتی امپراتوری ایران در زمان امپراتوری هخامنشیان بوده‌است. باور تاریخدانان بر این است که اسکندر مقدونی سردار یونانی در ۳۳۰ پیش از میلاد، به ایران حمله کرد و پارسه را به آتش کشید و احتمالا بخش عظیمی از کتاب ها، فرهنگ و هنر هخامنشی را با این کار نابود نمود. با این‌حال ویرانه های این مکان هنوز هم در مرودشت در نزدیکی شیراز مرکز استان فارس برپا است و باستان شناسان از ویرانه های آن نشانه های آتش و هجوم را بر آن، تایید می کنند. این مکان از سال ۱۹۷۹ یکی از آثار ثبت شده ایران در میراث جهانی یونسکو است. - Persepolis (Old Persian: Pārsa, Modern Persian: Takht-e Jamshid) was the ceremonial capital of the Persian Empire during the Achaemenid dynasty (ca. 550-330 BCE). Persepolis is situated 70 km northeast of the modern city of Shiraz in the Fars Province of modern Iran. In contemporary Persian, the site is known as Takht-e Jamshid (Throne of Jamshid) and Parseh. The earliest remains of Persepolis date from around 515 BCE. To the ancient Persians, the city was known as Pārsa, which means
